The Hamilton Gardens Cafe

Found in the heart of Hamilton, next to the mighty Waikato river is nestled The Gardens Café, open 7 days a week, all day from 9am to 6pm. The Hamilton Gardens Café provides visitors and tourists of the Hamilton Gardens with picturesque views across Turtle Lake and beyond, all the while sitting and enjoying a relaxing café experience.

To visit, this café is warm and inviting, with large alfresco dining. The area surrounding is fresh and full of life, with the surrounding lakes, scenery and the simple but elegant edition of an edible garden. You not only get to enjoy exceptional coffee and food, but are surrounded by stunning views, adding to the feel and atmosphere of your visit.

Inside the cabinet was full of a variety of delicious freshly prepared food, all labeled and well priced. Also a summer (seasonal) menu was available for our selection. Meals are more than what you expect for the reasonable prices ($15 - $17), with well-balanced and simple favors, all presented exceptionally. The chicken salad and prawn fettuccini that we ordered, really hit the spot. Both nice and simple, looking very appetizing and tasting even better. It can be difficult to find decent coffee, so the icing on the cake was the flat whites ordered, both with rich cream, and the more than generous caramel slice ($4.50) that we shared. While the food was a standout, the happy and attentive staff really added value to this Café and our dining experience. Nothing was too much trouble, from modifications to our meals, to fast and efficient service, the staff were more than happy to help.

We enjoyed a lovely ladies lunch, with exceptional food and were well looked after by the staff. Combine that with the opportunity to explore the surrounding gardens and take in the scenery, without the worry of paying for parking or moving location; I would call this a faultless experience. With nothing to detract from the atmosphere and experience of The Garden's Café, it is defiantly a place I will be visiting often this summer and suggest others to do the same.
