Victoria Street Bistro

Victoria Street Bistro is known as one of Hamilton's best fine dining restaurants, and has award winning chef Andrew Clarke combining his culinary gifts with expert restaurateur Julia Clarke to create a premiere dining experience.

This award winning restaurant, certainly did not disappoint when visited with our friends for an evening out. We were left with very good impressions of Victoria Street Bistro. We would highly recommend VSB to anyone interested in a thoroughly enjoyable evening of great wine and delicious food in lovely surroundings.

With seating for 50, the atmosphere was busy but intimate, with delicate fairy lights draped along the ceiling and an impressive chandelier as a feature. The look and feel of the venue is warm, friendly and classy.

We would suggest making a booking in plenty of time; being a bit late ourselves we struggled to make a booking. However upon seeing how busy it was for a Sunday night, it is clear that VSB is a place that would require a booking to secure a table for most sized groups.

Despite the staff being very busy, upon arrival we were greeted warmly by a lovely lady behind the reception.

During the entire evening we were very impressed with not only how upbeat and attentive the team members were but also how professional and knowledgeable they were in regards to the menu.

Our waiter, a young man was clearly well informed of the specials for the evening. He was able to describe these seamlessly along with many other elements off the menu. He did this with ease without referring to any notes which we deemed impressive.

Our wait staff for the evening were very attentive throughout the course of our visit. Our water was refilled regularly, we were informed of specials and were encouraged to consider suggestions however we did not feel pressured to purchase. We were prompted in such a polite and respected manner it made it easy to say yes. It is clear that the staff are well trained and take pride in their work.

The food was simply amazing, all four of us ordered different mains, and we were very impressed that individually each meal stood out, and no one was left with food envy. The flavors of the meals were complex and lovely, and cooked to perfection. The beef cheek simply fell apart and the steak was cooked just to our specification, absolutely delicious we couldn't have asked for better.

When we compared the quality of the food and prices with other restaurants in the area it is clear that with VSB you are receiving well above the average in terms of quality, for a very reasonable price, this was a lovely evening and real value for money.

With a fussy diner in our mix, we were very pleased that the food was faultless. From the presentation, to the taste, everything was perfect, our friend is hard to please, but she left being very impressed.

We had a lovely evening at Victoria Street Bistro, with food we could not fault and service that left us feeling like valued and respected customers. This made it difficult to pinpoint exactly what the highlight was of the evening. A true testament to the team at the Victoria Street Bistro. Well done!
